today I jumped off a bridge. Yes, you heard me correctly a BRIDGE. It's a right of passage here on the vineyard so I knew I had to do it. That old saying "if your friends jumped off a bridge would you do it too" doesn't seem to hold water in this scenario because I was the instigator and I was alone. Since I couldn't photograph myself I found a few people who represented my inner turmoil. I mean COME ON I needed some time. After about 5 mins and the encouragement of a 10 year old and her mother I finally took the step off the landing...twice (thank you very much) Feel free to laugh at my expense when you actually see the bridge.

I definitely did this pose for about a minute.

This is the actual bridge. Hysterical right? It doesn't look scary at all. Admittedly I jumped from the lowest part, but I decided that's not the point.

Without a care in the world kids climb up on the rickety wooden slats to have a moment of air time before landing firmly in the deep water below.

Some jump straight in...

others get fancy...

This wasn't a defining moment in my life, but it did get me thinking. We've all heard that saying "when you get to the end of your rope tie a knot and hold on." Well it was always taught to me as "When you get to the end of your rope let go." It's harder than I thought. I guess sometimes you just have to jump off the bridge and believe that something is going to catch you on the other end.

Go take a risk... it feels really good.

gosh Julie I don't know where to start. I haven't checked in with your blog in a while and I am in awe of what you're doing--not just the photos, but the activities, the relationships with the kids, the openness to new experience. You go, girl. You're sure on the right track!!
